Enlight Ballroom Registration/Auditions for 2014-2015

 

Fall registration for new students and pee-wees Friday May 16th 3-5pm 

Registration:  We will be having an open house registration for all new students that would like to join Enlight for the 2014-15 year and all pee wee age students returning or new. 

We will register all new students on a beginning level team according to their age division and have information regarding team times and fees for the 2014-15 season. 

Pee-Wee students will also take care of their registration at this time. 

Registration will be Friday May 16th from 3-5pm at Enlight Ballroom Studio in Spring Creek Fitness 1352 LeGrand Street, Logan, Utah. 

 

Auditions for Enlight Ballroom Int/Adv Teams Saturday May 17th

Auditions: We will be having auditions for students who would like to try-out for the intermediate or advanced teams or who are moving up an age division. 

All students need to audition for their appropriate age group.  It is based on the age/grade they will be for the 2014-15 school year. 

Pre-Teen: ages 9-12 or in the 4th, 5th or 6th grade

Junior: ages 13-15 or in the 7th, 8th or 9th grade

Youth: ages 16-18 or in the 10th, 11th or 12th grade

Students need to come prepared to dance a waltz and a cha-cha either American style or International style.  There will be partners available to dance with if you don’t have one.  Please come dressed up.  Men wear shirt and tie and Latin pants or black slacks.  Ladies wear leotard or fitted shirt and skirt that it no longer than knee length and hair pulled back. 

Auditions will be Saturday May 17th at Enlight Ballroom Studio in Spring Creek Fitness 1352 LeGrand Street, Logan, Utah.  Please check audition times for each age group.

Pre-Teen auditions: 9-10am

Junior auditions: 9-11am

Youth auditions: 10am-noon

Enlight Summer Classes, 2014


Enlight Ballroom Summer Class Registration 2014

Description:  Enlight ballroom will be holding an 8-week summer technique class session.  Summer classes will focus on syllabus figures and technique and styling to help students improve their personal dance ability. 

Dates for summer session:  Classes will start Monday June 2nd.  Classes will not be held the week of June 30-July 4th.  Then July classes resume Monday July 7th and run through Friday August 1st.

Fees:  Fees will be due in full on the first day of summer classes.  Fees can be paid in cash or check to Enlight Ballroom.  There will not be any refunds for missed classes.  Students who take both the Jr/Yth/Adult Latin and Ballroom class will receive a $20 discount.  Families with 2 or more students enrolled in summer classes will receive a 10% discount on class fees.

Gem State Info - PeeWee and PreTeen Teams

Gem State 2014- Pee-Wee/Pre-Teen Itinerary
*Fees: March class fees and Gem state fees must be paid by Wednesday to coaches
Pee-Wee Gem State Fee:             Pre-Teen Gem State Fee:  
*Parking:  park on SE corner of parking lot at Madison High School and all entering and exiting of building must be done through the auxiliary gym doors.  Absolutely no entrance in the main school
*Carpool/hotel: if you are not personally driving down your students and staying overnight with them, please make accommodations with another parent to do so
*Spectators: Buy at the door, $5 Friday, $5 Saturday, $20 1-day family pass (immediate family), kids 6 and under free, students competing will be paid for with gem state fee that was paid to Enlight.

Friday March 21: (Friday is all the team events)
·         All Pee-Wee and Pre-Teen students need to leave Logan no later than 7am and must arrive at Madison High School (2300 University Blvd, Rexburg, ID) at 10am sharp
·         Girls need to have their hair done before they arrive.  Both pee-wee and pre-teen girls should wear their hair slicked back in a high pony tail and curled into ringlets and be wearing blush and red lipstick.  They should come wearing tan dance tights and their black latin skirts and if they have a red team shirt they should wear that, if not just any regular shirt. Pre-Teen girls need to also have on their nude leos. 
·         Boys should have their hair gelled and looking neat.  They should be in either black slacks for pee-wee boys and latin pants for pre-teen boys and long black dress socks and if they have a red team shirt they should wear that, if not just any regular shirt. 
·         All students should have their dance shoes in a bag and any other performance supplies they need with easy access to get out as soon as they arrive at the high school. 
·         At 10am meet your coaches in the main gym and they will help you get into costumes and prep to compete.
·         The competition starts promptly at 11am.  Pee-Wee and Pre-Teens students will be done with their sessions around 2:00pm.  At that time the coaches will meet with the students and make sure all costumes are accounted for and then you can choose to stay and watch the junior and youth events or leave. 
Saturday March 22: (Saturday is all individual syllabus and open events)
·         All pee-wee and pre-teen students need to meet their coach in the main gym at the high school at 7:30am.  At this time, your coaches will get your ready for individual syllabus competition
·         Girls: must be wearing the following with no exceptions: plain white shirt (must have at least cap sleeves), black latin skirts with built in trunks or black turnks worn underneath, tan dance tights, dance shoes that you wear for team, hair should be done in a slicked pony tail, braid or bun.  Blush and red lipstick.   No jewelry or hair pieces. Pre-teens wear nude leotards under shirt
·         Boys: must be wearing black slacks or latin pants, black dress socks, black dance shoes or dress shoes, plain white long sleeve dress shirt with sleeve rolled down, plain black tie or bow tie.

·         All pre-teen and pee wee syllabus events are scheduled to be done by 11:15. When the events are done you may leave and head back to Logan or stay to watch junior and youth students.

*All junior/youth students will be staying as a team in the Spring Hill Suites Marriott
*Spectators: Buy at the door, $5 Friday, $5 Saturday, $20 1-day family pass (immediate family), kids 6 and under free, students competing will be paid for with gem state fee that was paid to Enlight.

Friday March 21: (Friday is all the team events)
·         All Junior and youth students need to meet at the studio at 7:45am and must arrive at Madison High School (2300 University Blvd, Rexburg, ID) by 11am.
·         Girls need to have their hair done before they arrive.  Needs to be parted on the left and slicked into a perfect low bun with hair net.  You will have time to do make-up when we get there.  Please wear your red team shirt and warm up jacket if you have them.    
·         Boys should have their hair gelled and looking neat.  Please wear your red team shirt and warm up jacket if you have them.   
·         All students should bring one small suitcase and then a separate dance bag with all their dance supplies such as: skirts, nets, shoes, latin pants, make-up, hair stuff, earrings ready to use at competition when we get there.  
·         Junior and youth will be there most of the afternoon and evening and go over to the hotel together as teams to check in with their coaches. 
Saturday March 22: (Saturday is all individual syllabus and open events)
·         All juniors will meet their coach at 10:30am to get ready for syllabus, all youth will meet their coach at 2:00 to watch cabaret and then do their syllabus events. 
·         Girls: must be wearing the following with no exceptions: plain white shirt (must have at least cap sleeves), black latin skirts with built in trunks or black trunks worn underneath, fishnets, dance shoes , hair should be done in a slicked pony tail, braid or bun and team make-up.  No jewelry or hair pieces.
·         Boys: must be wearing  latin pants, black dress socks,  dance shoes , plain white long sleeve dress shirt with sleeve rolled down, plain black tie or bow tie.
·         The competition will not get over until midnight on Saturday and the event right before it is team match so where red and orange and yellow to represent Enlight for team spirit.  IF the juniors need to leave before team match they can but youth should stay. 
·         We will be arriving in Logan around 3am.

PreTeen Meeting and Info for BYU/Nationals March 14th, 2014

Enlight Pre-Teen Nationals Itinerary
Friday March 14th
·       All students need to arrive at the BYU Marriott Center Sports Arena (500 East University Pkwy) at 10:00am. Please meet Adam promptly at 10am in front of portal A up top in the concessions area.  If you can’t find him please call his cell at 435-757-4049. It takes about 2 hours to get to Provo from Logan and there will be rush hour traffic so plan accordingly and leave Logan no later than 8am.
·       All students and any other spectators attending the competition will need to purchase a ticket for admittance to the event.  Tickets can be purchased at the Marriot Center ticket office which is by the Marriot Center parking lot where you will be parking anyway.  General admission tickets are $12 for all ages including the students competing.
·       Please pay close attention to the following information: The first event the students will dance is the Elementary School Syllabus American (F/CC) at 11:26am.  After this event, you may take your student for a quick lunch break or just eat the concessions there at the Marriot Center.  Then we will all meet again at Portal A just as before at 3:00pm.  At this time students will dance in the Junior High Syllabus newcomer swing event at 4:18.  After this event, the students will stay together as a team and get ready for their team formation dance.  They will dance the first round of Pre-Teen Latin Formation at 6:07 and then depending on which division they make, they will dancing again within the next hour.  After the team has dance both rounds and all the costumes have been cleaned up and accounted for, students can leave the competition or stay and watch the older Enlight teams. 
·       Costumes/syllabus items to bring: It is very important that students where the exact clothing specified for syllabus or they will be disqualified from their events.  We will have the new costumes for the team formation event there with us.  Students should come to the competition wearing their syllabus clothes and have dance shoes ready to put on.  
o   Girls: black latin skirts with black trunks under, tan dance tights not fishnets, dance shoes, plain white shirt or leotard (must have at least cap sleeve, must be completely plain, literally nothing on it), no jewelry or hair accessories.  Girls also need to come with hair slicked perfectly into a high pony tail and curled in ringlets and with blush and red lipstick.
o   Boys: black latin pants, black dress socks, dance shoes, plain white long sleeve dress shirt (can’t roll up sleeves), plain black tie or bow tie.

***We know this is going to be an amazing experience for the students to be surrounded by so many kids their age doing ballroom and competing as individuals and as a team.  But we need your help parents to make sure this runs as smoothly as possible by having your students arrive in the correct places at the times we have given.  Thank you for your support and we wish the best of luck to all the Enlight teams competing this next week.

March 2014 Newsletter

Congrats to Youth Red for taking 1st place with Latin Medley at Center Stage and to Junior Red for taking 1st with Latin Medley at Timpanogas.  Go Enlight!!!

Spring Break: No classes the week of Spring Break for March 31-April 4. 
Classes will resume April 7th and run through April and May.

  

Gem State Idaho Trip

Gem State is coming up soon March 21, 22.  The entire Enlight Company will be going. A detailed itinerary will be coming soon. Fees are due along with March monthly payments.
The USA dance registration is not working this year so don’t worry about registering for that anymore.
Pee Wee and Pre-Teen parents please make accommodations to get your students there and stay overnight with them or arrange for them to go with another family. 
Junior and Youth: hotels are booked for this age group, if any parents can help drive students down Friday and or back Saturday night please contact your students coach and let them know how many seats are available in your car.
All coaches will be signing students up for their events for this competition so it does not need to be done online at home.
 
BYU Nationals
The schedule of events is not yet posted but should be soon.  We will send out a detailed itinerary as soon as it is out. 
 
For Pre-Teen parents: plan to be there all day Friday and your student will need to purchase a ticket the day of $12 to get in that day to the competition. 
 
For Junior and youth teams: any parents that can help drive students down Wednesday or pick up Saturday night, please contact your students coach and let them know how many seats you have available in your car.  For now students and drivers plan to meet at the studio around 8am Wed March 12.  Also coaches will be letting your teams know about any specific grooming that needs to happen the weekend before nationals such as tanning, nails and hair. Fees are due ASAP!
 

Enlight Shirts for Parents

We have extra red Enlight shirts if any students or parents would like to buy them.  They are $10.  Please contact and pay Mikayla Young the youth orange team coach if you are interested.
 
Store Hours:
Store will not be open Feb 28 but please come get all supplies needed for upcoming competition Friday March 7th 4-6pm.  We also have open costumes for rental at the store.  Lipstick is in too now

January Parent's Meeting - 2014

 
Enlight Ballroom Pee-Wee, Pre-Teens and Junior Red,
We will be having a parent meeting combined Pee-Wee, Pre-Teens and Junior Red on Wednesday January 29th at 4:45 pm at the studio. 
We will be discussing the upcoming competitions and performances so please come and if you cannot come, please make sure you get the info from your student regarding these events.
